  • Tug Eiden, PE, Principal CCUS Advisor – Trihydro Corporation

Upstream and midstream oil and gas companies are well-positioned to take advantage of CCS, more so than other industries. This presentation details several advantages (financial and technical) that the oil and gas industry has over competing sectors pursuing sequestration projects. We will also present a few of the anticipated permitting & implementation cost structures and discuss different capital costs and forms of funding encountered in CCS projects. Lastly, we will briefly touch on the extent to which oil and gas companies may experience less financial uncertainty on projects compared to other CCS competitors.

9:10 AM – 9:25 AM Networking Break

9:25 AM – 9:45 AM – BKV’s Barnett Zero CCS Project

  • Pat McKern, Sr. Director Business Development, BKV Corp

This presentation delves into the details of BKV’s Barnett Zero CCUS project, and how it went from FID to First injection within 18 months. The presentation will focus on the geologic screening, project planning, and detailed engineering to ensure a high reliability outcome and permanence of sequestered CO2. We will review the EPA MRV plan approval as well as “above and beyond” monitoring system that ensures permanence and has allowed BKV to generate carbon credits with 3rd party certification and verification.

9:45 AM -10:05 AM – Putting it Together: A step-by-step primer on building a CCS project from the ground up.

  • Robbie Rockey, Co-CEO and President, Frontier Carbon Solutions LLC

  • Jenna Mays, Wyoming Asset Manager, ExxonMobil – CO2 – Class II permits

At ExxonMobil, we’re focused on meeting society’s evolving needs for energy and essential products and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We’ll share why we believe carbon capture and storage is a winning strategy to help meet society’s lower-emission goals. We’ll discuss how important our Wyoming operations are to that goal, both from the perspective of today’s operation and the future expansion plans.

10:25 AM -10:45 AM – Jonah Energy’s Responsibly Produced Gas Initiative

  • Paul Ulrich, Vice President-Government and Regulatory Affairs, Jonah Energy

Jonah Energy’s Responsibly Produced Gas Initiative is a holistic approach to natural gas production that focuses on ways to reduce, measure and report emissions to meet consumer demands. Jonah Energy’s efforts have resulted in one of the lowest emission intensities of any operator in the United States. This session will focus on steps operators can take in carbon management to meet growing governmental requirements and consumer demands using Jonah’s evolutionary story as the backdrop.
