Petroleum Association of Wyoming Applauds Court Ruling on Methane Waste Prevention Rule
September 13, 2024
We applaud yesterday’s ruling out of the U.S. District Court in North Dakota halting the Bureau of Land Management’s enforcement of the new Methane Waste Prevention Rule in Wyoming and several other states. The rule is the BLM’s latest attempt at an end run around its statutory authority and create duplicative requirements to those under EPA jurisdiction. Previous attempts have been looked down upon by the courts and it appears this one will be no different.
Unending red tape has been a hallmark of the Biden Administration’s efforts to halt federal oil and gas development. Wyoming regulators at the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality and the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission are leaders in responsible oversight of the oil and natural gas industry. The federal government should recognize that fact. We thank Governor Gordon and Attorney General Hill in defending the work that is already being done on these issues.
